Birstall Retain County Cup
Last night's County Sunday Junior Cup Final was won by Birstall Stamford Reserves who beat Glenfield 3 - 1 to retain the cup. This is the second County Trophy won by a CSFL team this season. Manager Joey Hughes said:
"To retain the County Cup in my first season with the reserves is an incredible feeling and a testament to what a managerial partnership myself and Steve Walker have forged. Last night was a great final and was played in the right spirit, hard and fair. Both teams are a credit to themselves and to their respective leagues. I just felt that with the squad we had, and the quality and stamina through it, would prove too much in the end for some teams and it's proved to be the case last night. We've beat some big teams to get to the final and I'm delighted that the team delivered what was expected of them".
in other news, Whitwick Compass beat Gaunt reserves 3 - 1 in a mid-week Division 1 game to keep their title hopes alive and Sileby Athletic beat Birstall Trees Reserves in Division 4.
If you were at these games, head over to the CSFL Forum and tell us about it.

Premier Cup Final Decided, Riverside take Div4 Title
It took extra time to put Shelthorpe Lions through and penalties for Wymeswold to ensure these two teams meet in the Premier Cup final.
With the other big players in cup action, Long Whatton took advantage winning 2-1 to take second place in the Premier Division.
In Division 4 Riverside FC take the league title and the second trophy in the CSFL this season with a 3-2 victory over Sileby Athletic.

Stamford A Take First Trophy, Who Will be Next?
Birstall Stamford A secured a 50th trophy for Stamford putting the Division 2 title beyond reach with a 2 - 0 win over promotion candidates Groby Town last week. With four games remaining in the League, manager Nick Hughes guided the A team to the first Charnwood Sunday league Trophy this season with an unbeaten league-run of 14 games. Following the game, Nick posted on the forum thanks to the club:
"...An even bigger thank you to all of my lads, team and staff included. You have performed beyond expectations ... I don't want to single anyone out but I'm just trying to emphasise the amount of character we have in our team."
With one title decided, there is still plenty at stake for other clubs. 100+ scorers Riverside FC hope to make the Division 4 title theirs this weekend, turning their high goal difference into mathematical certainty, whilst four Premier teams battle it out for a place in the Premier Cup final.
If your team has a crunch game this weekend or you're going to watch someone else's, head over to the CSFL Forum and tell us about it.
Coalville Trophy Final Decided, Stamford Extend Lead

Loughborough Saints Reserves fail to hold on to the lead in Division 3 after losing 4-1 to Loughborough Rovers and Beacon return to the top with a win over strugglers Twelve FC. Rain Stops Play
Many of the County Cup games were rained off this weekend and will be replayed next week. Expect a lot of further fixture changes as the league competes with County and CSFL cup replays.

Because of the cold weather last Sunday the affected League Cup games will now be played on December 21st. All clubs with a league fixture on that date should check their respective fixtures on the website for revisions.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Riches, Fixtures Secretary, or Iain Stanbridge, Referee's Secretary.
Frost Cools Off Fixtures
The cold weather put paid to most of this weekend's matches. Only 9 of the 24 fixtures were fulfilled. Only 2 games in the League Cup went ahead meaning further fixture dispruption to come.
There were no games in the Premier or Divison 2 and the other division remain largely unchanged.
Weekend Results
Shelthorpe remain top of the Premier after beating Loughborough Falcons. In other results, champions Birstall Stamford maintain pressure on Shelthorpe with a victory over the trees in the Birstall derby, but Wymeswold relinquish their unbeaten record losing 2 - 3 to Gaunt.
Division 1 sees Birstall Reserves maintaining their lead with a win over Gaunt Reserves who drop three places.
Despite a full fixture card there wasn't much action in Division 2 due to most of the games being called off. Another victory for Birstall Stamford A sees them still top and Mountsorrel Imps climb the table after beating Cossington.
Having dropped places in Division 3 following the resignation of Lady Jane, Beacon Athletic regained ground in style and returned to the top after a 13 - 1 demolition of Agar Nook. Title contenders Loughborough Rovers only managed a draw against Twelve FC and former league leaders Saints Reserves conceded top spot after losing to Loughborough Academicals.
Division 4 has a new top and bottom; Three Nuns beat front-runners Loughborough Royal Oak 4 - 2 to take over the reigns in the league and Britannia haul themselves off the foot of the table with a victory over Ashby Railway - their first of the season.
CSFL Referee Attacked
Charnwood Sunday League Referee Of The Year 2007-08, Andy Parker, was taken to hospital with a broken jaw on Saturday 22nd November after he was knocked unconscious by a player he had sent off just moments earlier. Andy was refereeing an East Midlands Counties League match between St Andrews and Gedling Miners' Welface when a St Andrews player who had been shown the red card returned to the pitch and assaulted Andy.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Andy as he recovers. If you would like to pass on a message or discuss this incident, visit the Forum and share it with us.

Lady Jane 98 have officially resigned from the league. The Division 3 table has now been adjusted accordingly as their results have been expunged.
Revised Fixtures - Remainder of 2008
Due to clubs progressing in cup competitions and postponed fixtures, the card for the remainder of this year has had to be revised by the Fixtures Secretary and Referees Secretary. All league divisions are affected, as is the Everards League Cup. Please note that fixtures for the 21st December are also posted.
Not all referees have been appointed yet but the site will be updated as and when they are. In the meantime it is recommended that you check your club's remaining fixtures for any changes
As always, these fixtures can be changed/amended up to four days before the match date as per league rules. For fixture confirmation please contact Mark Riches, Fixtures Secretary or for referee appointments please contact Iain Stanbridge, Referees' Secretary.
Shelthorpe Still Top but Birstall Stamford out of FA Cup
Shelthorpe Lions remain top of the Premier despite only managing a 3 - 3 draw against Wymeswold. Gaunt register their first win against title hopefuls Loughborough Saints whilst Birstall Trees get the upper hand over fellow promoted side Charnwood Foresters.
Division 1 side Quorn Royals drew 4 - 4 with CK Newbold and lost ground to Gaunt Reserves who look to close the gap on Birstall Stamford Res.
Division 2 had a bit of a shake up with the most noticable results being Groby Dynamo's 9 - 0 thrashing of Shepshed Town. Markfield slip to the bottom but Birstall Stamford A continue to dominate after beating Bagworth imps 3 - 0.
Only two games in Division 3 this week with Agar Nook swapping places with Loughborough Academicals who lost to Shepshed Aardvarks.
In Division 4 it was mostly business as usual although big-guns Walsh and Three Nuns cancelled each other out, allowing Riverside to take advantage and move into second.
Finally, in other news, last year's League Champions Birstall Stamford were knocked out of the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup losing 4-3 on penalties against Nottingham side Scots Grey.
Re-arranged Fixtures - 16th November
Because of County Cup match abandonment the fixture card for this coming Sunday has been changed:

- Division 4: Birstall Trees Res. v Sileby Athletic
Everards League Cup Round Three Draw

Rememberance Sunday Results
It was County Cup weekend and as it stands there are 16 CSFL teams still in the County competitions. Only a handful of games were played in the league today and although Shelthorpe Lions were knocked out of the Sunday Premier Cup, they're still top of the CSFL Premier Division with Long Whatton failing to take advantage of the extra league fixture as Birstall Trees beat them 3-2. Elsewhere Saints Reserves go top of Division 3 beating Enderby St. Johns 5-3 and Loughborough Royal Oak remain top of Division 4 after beating Birstall Trees reserves 4-0.
